Jet Ski Bash 2014
April 11 - 13, 2014
I want to thank all the contributors and participants for making this a great year. The event went very well and everyone was incredibly generous in supporting the charity. Thanks also to those that volunteered and Lauren and Leah from Give Kids the World for helping out where needed and answering questions about who we are doing this for. I recommend you visit www.gktw.org if you haven't had a chance to find out about them yet. We have completed the tally and this year the event has raised 5534.94. Super job everyone.
The Friday night welcome reception was a complete blast, everyone was so enjoyable to spend time with while we checked everyone in and handed out the welcome bags and shirts. The shirts were a great addition this year and we will continue that tradition for sure. The silent auction kicked off very well the first night and Give Kids the World donation box began filling up right away. My 31 bags rep Heidi Broome was on hand to show everyone what is available from that company as well as explain what was all in the silent auction item from her. After we closed that room everyone headed out to the pool deck where we had many laughs sitting in our very large circle.
Saturday kicked off quickly with many still needing to check in and a few still registering bringing the total poker hands right around the century mark. We had the riders meeting and then the waves started heading out. The winds had picked up a little more than expected so there were a few waves to contend with. I managed to drop the last poker stop volunteers off and headed in the opposite direction so I could see the riders navigating the map. The groups seemed very spaced out and thank you everyone for doing a great job of spacing. After everyone made it back we dealt the hands and began the slalom course race, thanks to Pete for setting up the bouys a couple of times. Everyone seemed to have a good time with so much going on including the slalom, demo rides, silent auction and watching the flyboards in action. Saturday night we had the prize party and gave out all of the raffle prizes, silent auction items to the winners and the top poker hand prizes. After that it seemed much more laid back around the pool since everyone had such a long busy day with all the activities and a little choppy seas.
I also want to thank all the club members that made it out to the event. We had members many of the clubs around the state including Orlando Watercraft Riders; South Florida Riders; Space Coast Jet Riders; Jetski Junkies; Tampa Sea Doo Crew and of course the TBJSC. If I missed your club sorry, just let me know and I can add your club.
Sunday still consisted of a few rides heading out in different directions, demo rides and watching the flyboards again. It seems that another year of riding has been kicked off nicely so keep up with all the clubs and join in on the rides. See everyone on the water soon.
